LDR
A photoresistor or light dependent resistor (LDR) is resistor whose resistance decreases with increasing incident light intensity; in other words, it exhibits photoconductivity. photoelectric or light sensing device are used in almost any branch of industry for control, safety, amusement and sound reproduction and inspection and measurement.
A photoresistor is made of a high resistance semiconductor. If light falling on the device is of high enough frequency, photons absorbed by the semiconductor give bound electrons enough energy to jump into the conduction band. The resulting free electron (and its hole partner) conduct electricity, thereby lowering resistance.
Circuit Operation
This is an LDR based Emergency Lamp that turns on a High watt White LED when there is darkness in the room. It can be used as a simple emergency lamp in the child’s room to avoid the panic situation in the event a sudden power failure. It gives ample light in the room.
